SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT JUST ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN JACKSON**

A WINTRY MIX OF RAIN AND SNOW CHANGING TO LIGHT SNOW FRIDAY
NIGHT INTO SATURDAY MORNING…

A DEVELOPING STORM SYSTEM ACROSS THE WESTERN GULF OF MEXICO SHOULD
MOVE ACROSS THE NORTHERN GULF LATE FRIDAY AND PUSH INTO NORTH FLORIDA
ON SATURDAY. A MIXTURE OF COLD LIGHT RAIN AND SNOW SHOULD DEVELOP
FRIDAY EVENING OVER SOUTHEAST ARKANSAS AND NORTHEAST LOUISIANA BEFORE
MIDNIGHT AND THEN SPREAD EAST ALONG THE HIGHWAY 82 CORRIDOR BY
DAYBREAK SATURDAY. MEANWHILE…THE STORM SYSTEM ALONG THE GULF COAST
WILL REACH NEAR THE MOUTH OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER AND BE PULLING IN
STEADILY COLDER AIR BETWEEN 3 AM AND NOON SATURDAY MORNING WHEN THE
MIXTURE SHOULD BECOME ALL LIGHT SNOW.

THE EXACT TRACK OF THIS LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL DETERMINE THE
INTENSITY AND DURATION OF THE MIXTURE AND CHANGE OVER TO SNOW
HOWEVER…AT THIS TIME WE EXPECT POTENTIAL ACCUMULATIONS UP TO ONE
INCH OF SNOW IN GRASSY AREAS GENERALLY NORTH OF A CROSSETT ARKANSAS
TO KOSCIUSKO AND MACON MISSISSIPPI LINE EVEN WHILE TEMPERATURES
REMAIN JUST ABOVE FREEZING. SOME ELEVATED ROADWAYS AND BRIDGES COULD
ALSO BE AFFECTED SATURDAY MORNING IF THIS SYSTEM DEVELOPS AS EXPECTED
AND A FEW WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES MAY BE REQUIRED. THE PRECIPITATION
SHOULD END FROM WEST TO EAST BY SATURDAY AFTERNOON.

RESIDENTS SHOULD CHECK LATER FORECASTS CONCERNING THIS POTENTIAL
WINTER WEATHER.
