THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HUNTSVILLE HAS ISSUED A FREEZING
RAIN ADVISORY…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 9 AMCST TUESDAY.
A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL CLEAR NORTHERN ALABAMA THIS EVENING…BRINGING A SHALLOW COLD AIRMASS INTO THE REGION. TEMPERATURES
WILL DROP STEADILY THROUGH THE 30S AND EVENTUALLY BELOW FREEZING ACROSS FAR NORTHWEST ALABAMA AFTER MIDNIGHT TONIGHT. WEAK LIFT NORTH OF THE FRONT WILL AID IN THE PRODUCTION OF LIGHT RAIN AND DRIZZLE ACROSS THE ADVISORY AREA OVERNIGHT. WITH TEMPERATURES AT OR SLIGHTLY BELOW FREEZING…THE PRECIPITATION WILL BEGIN TO FREEZE ON CONTACT. THE MOST SUSCEPTIBLE AREAS WILL BE ELEVATED SURFACES…BRIDGES…OVERPASSES…AND SHELTERED VALLEY LOCATIONS. TEMPERATURES WILL GRADUALLY WARM ABOVE FREEZING AFTER 9 AM TUESDAY MORNING.
A FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF FREEZING RAIN OR FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS. SLOW DOWN AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING ACROSS THE AREA TONIGHT.
