I think a lot more people would listen to him if:
A) It weren't such a polemic. He does a lot of namecalling (dastardly scientists, environmental whacko, gullible, ridiculous, silly, etc.) but invokes no arguments. I know it's in a magazine about media bias and most of their readers are already convinced it's a lie (which is part of the problem with this issue - both sides hear what they want to hear and fete everyone who agrees with them) but it's still a tad over the top.
B) Dan Satterfield hadn't joined the global warming team in the past few months. This tipped the balance for every man, woman, and child in America. ;-) (But seriously, have you been watching his Arctic travelogue?)
As for me, I find it rather suspicious that a natural cycle just happened to swing around to "Hot" as industrialization increased exponentially.
But whether or not it's caused by man is almost (almost!) moot at this point. It's happening. Get your waders out!
I will comment more later when I have more time. My main thought is that it is impossible to prove that human-induced global warming exists. It is more a "religion" in which people have "faith" based on beliefs, but no proof and no hard evidence. The scientific method has been thrown out like a baby with the bathwater.
I cannot prove that it doesn't exist any better than they can prove that it does.
Industrialization has been going on for over 100 years. However, 30 years ago some of the same scientists, politicians, and interest groups were warning us of global cooling.
There is nothing new under the sun. Coleman is right when he says that someday people will look back at us and wonder how we could have been so gullible.
Did you see the hoax that came out today? Do a google search on global warming hoax. People believe anything. The problem is that we are spending money hand over fist as a country based on unprovable information.
