Lawrence County, Alabama EF-4 Tornado

My friends Mike Heflin and Melia Cole drove me and my son David through the entire 18.7 mile track of this tornado's damage this morning. David took the photos in this slideshow.

The tornado actually touched down first on my friend Mike's acreage in extreme southern Lawrence County and ended 18 miles later in Morgan County.

We spoke with Phillip Cunningham, the youth pastor from Melia's church. He lives just off Pleasant Hill Rd. Their neighbor's home had the garage doors blown out and everything inside tossed around except for a clipboard (papers attached) that was left in the seat of a tractor or backhoe.

They had a call about 3:17 telling them the storm was approaching Trinity. They went downstairs to their living room and when the wind picked up went into a closet. He said they heard a loud "humming" sound and everything was over in a matter of seconds. He also said the storm damaged homes near them as it crossed Pleasant Hill Rd and Old Moulton Rd just before it reached the trailer park on Moadaus and then lifted.
