The drought is not over....

Several locations in North and Central Alabama have been blessed with substantial rains lately. Nevertheless, the drought we have experienced during the past three years is certainly not over.

SYNOPSIS...

ACCORDING TO THE DROUGHT MONITOR VALID ON OCTOBER 28TH...ONLY
EXTREME EASTERN PORTIONS OF JACKSON AND DE KALB COUNTIES REMAIN IN
SEVERE DROUGHT /D2/. THE REST OF NORTHEAST ALABAMA...EAST OF A
HUNTSVILLE TO HANCEVILLE LINE...REMAINS IN MODERATE DROUGHT /D1/.
MODERATE DROUGHT ALSO PERSISTS IN FRANKLIN COUNTY TENNESSEE.
MOST OF THE REST OF THE CENTRAL TENNESSEE VALLEY...EAST OF U.S.
HIGHWAY 43...IS CONSIDERED ONLY ABNORMALLY DRY /D0/ DUE TO LONG TERM
DEFICITS WHICH REMAIN."

Jason Elliott of the NWS Huntsville issued a "Drought Information Statement" this morning. The drought is not as severe as it has been but it is also not over.
