On January 9-10, 2011, Huntsville, Alabama officially recorded 8.9" of snow, which is the third highest storm total snowfall on record. The highest was Jan. 1, 1964 with 17.1" and second was January 7-8, 1988 at 9.6". Perhaps most amazing was that between 11 p.m. and 12 midnight, 4" of snow fell in a thundersnow storm. I measured 8.75" at my home. I took too many photos to include them all on this blog post, so here is a link to the complete set on my Bamawx Facebook page.
